Aloha Team Arahoe
As you probably know, Ara Pakeke is focusing on ‘safety first' this term. The topic group in Room 6 is learning about being safe(r) around dogs. All too often we hear about dog attacks on NZ children (and adults) through the media.
We're lucky enough to have BARK (Building Awareness aRound K9’s) visit and work with our kids on the 29th of June.
They will talk in the hall with Ara Pakeke first, starting at 9.10 until 10am, followed by Ara Tuakana from 10.40 until 11.30.
The NZ charity 'BARK' have featured in the media recently. Their goal is to support our community by providing education to kids on how to be safe around and have positive experiences with dogs.
Here’s a video about BARK visiting Stonefields School:

New Zealand has one of the highest rates of dog ownership in the Western world, it pays to teach kids how to be safe around canines.

The BARK people that will be working with our kids are volunteer educators. The organisation survives on donations only. Obviously we would like to help towards this. It would be appreciated if children could please bring a donation of $2 if you don't have a loyalty card or $1 if you have a loyalty card.
Your support is much appreciated.
